THIRD WHEEL POTTERY

The Studio.

The Third Wheel is a community pottery studio in Potsdam, NY. Its goal is to provide a collaborative, supportive environment for all people as they enjoy the process of working with clay.

The studio is well equipped. Among the amenities are ten wheels for throwing, an extruder, a slab roller, tables for hand building, and access to an array of glazes. All pieces are fired on site.

We also have a variety of clay bodies on hand, from white to brown and smooth to speckled. A wide range of glazes, under glazes, transfers, and decorative tools are readily available.

Designed for individual potters as well as couples and small groups, the studio is utilized by all skill levels from beginners to accomplished artists.

History

After a few pottery classes through SLC Arts and TI Arts Council, Robin Wolpin realized the need for a public space where folks could hone their pottery skills. So, in December 2019, the studio opened and ran its first 4-week pottery class. Since then, the studio has grown steadily in membership and resources while providing a safe space to practice pottery. The studio fosters the sharing of ideas, friendship, support, and sometimes food! We have hosted 4H groups, scout troups, homeschoolers, Clarkson summer interns
